Maria Klenner (she/her) is a documentary and portrait photographer and video editor currently based between Beirut and Berlin. She is working between commissions and personal projects on identity, justice, and migration, and available for assignments worldwide.
Maria earned an MA in history and sociology after a training in documentary photography at the Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts and La Cambre in Brussels.
She contributes to various media, among them Der Spiegel, Bloomberg, Die Zeit, Monocle, Financial Times, and The Washington Post. Maria is a former member of Agentur Focus, an alumni of the International Journalists’ Programmes for the Middle East (2022), and a grantee of VG Bild-Kunst (2025)and TruePicture (2023). In 2024, her first book The Children of Bergen-Belsen won the German Photobook Prize.
